This was the first year I booked a table at WinC Con and it was a blast!!! It was awesome seeing a few people from NYCC come and visit me again. I wish it last for one more day rather then one day. Oh well, all good things must come to a end. I look forward to be here next year! It was an honor to be here at WinC 2016!
It was a joy this create this image during my art hangouts at google plus. The program I used was photoshop cs5, and a default brush. the rendering and everything was me changing between opacity, flow, transfer, and hardness constantly. I also used references of Bolo Yeung in "Bloodsport".
I had the pleasure of doing these digital portraits for my clients and friends, who support me in my art career. I very blessed to have these people in my life, without them, I won't have a collection of art muses to fond over lol.
I'm heading in 2016 with a strong start and I have Google hangouts to thank! And I will tell you why. I usually get some work done or none at all. It was hard for me to find balance between attending to my child and nephew while his mother worked and my business of being an artist. Even when I did have the time now that they are a little older, they can mind themselves to a certain extent. I was left unmotivated and unfocused. And on top of that, based on my experience as an artist, it can be a lonely lifestyle. Especially, if you're on your cpu or art table on most hours of the day honing your craft. It made me depressed, until I was invited into a facebook art group. The rules were very simple for this group you can only post work of art that was completed or worked on in the group's google hangouts.
My mind was blown! Just being in a space with others with the same passion as you and who seek to constantly improve on their craft, lit the flame in my heart. The hangout sessions was inspiring, and it was very easy to get feedback from others. Google hangouts also have the able to screen share from the computer to the webcam. I was able to see people working traditional and digitally. I learned so much and I was able to make friends. The hangouts made me work on my art and complete it! I feel so refreshed from the amazing experience. That's my week has been so productive and there's been a vast improvement in my art.
You guys should try it too and tell me how it improved your art and mindset! :D
The newest and the last character to the assassins group in VE Dead Breed. Please welcome Cole with his Graphene compound sword.
After this, I will be releasing the comic book pages. Please look forward to more updates in the future! :)
I just finished a new character for my comic which is coming out later on this year. This is Pete short for Peter (named after my friend), he's the leader of the assassin group and the eldest. I have one more character to flesh out and after that, I will start releasing pages to the comic. :)
Honestly, I haven't done a illustration of Martin Luther King, jr in a very very....long time. The last time I've done one was in grade school. I know, shame on me! But to make amends to myself, I plan to do other images of Black historical figures within the following very cold days and into the warmer months. Please look forward to it. ;)
I started to do a series of head portraits, first as gifts for birthday presents. And then, it became addicting. I'm learning so much from playing with colors from Photoshop and using references. Please expect more in the future from!
I finished these at NYCC this past weekend! It was an awesome ride. I've met so many inspiring people and learned so much. This was a experience that I didn't want to end. Thank you for all the people that supported and visited me and my peers at Afrofuturefest. I'll see you guys next year! :)
I'm a first time mommy who finally realized that the time is now to seize my dreams. I only need to overcome myself to get to where I want to go.
